Any girls reminiscing about girl groups/vocalists? What about the now-much-bashed bubblegum genre? Look no further as I take you to a nostalgic trip with the hits in the 90s!
The above are the Spice Girls, British pop girl group formed in 1994. From left-to-right, they are: Baby Spice (Emma Bunton), Scary Spice (Mel B), Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell), Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham) and Sporty Spice (Mel C).
Down below is a GREAT example of a pop rap, and their hit song:
Is not wearing a bra their way of trying to be “sexy” back in the day but fully-clothed? o_o!!
Moving on, next group is SMiLE.dk, a Swedish bubblegum dance group that consists of Veronica Almqvist and Nina Boquist. Veronica is the only current member in the group.
Their hit song, popularized in Dance Dance Revolution:
This song was also sampled by Die Antwoord, as you can see in here…
I remember dancing to this song, putting my hair in twin-tails and polishing my nails with red polish. Ahh, good times, good times… :’)
Next on the list, Danish-Norwegian eurodance group, AQUA. The group sold an estimated 33 million albums and singles, making them the most successful Danish band ever.
Also, Lene Nystrøm (the vocalist) and Søren Rasted (the keyboardist) are married. You might heard of them from their hit songs:
This band is apparently still ongoing, so check them out if you’re still interested!
And my personal favourite:
Last but not least, the Vengaboys, a Dutch eurodance/dance-pop group. You either love ’em or hate ’em when they first emerged with:
Rye Rye sampled the song here.
The group apparently is preparing for their 2014 South African tour! Very persistent huh? Er, props to them I guess…?!
Enjoy these songs while you can until you realized you overplayed them a decade ago! 😀
